Steve Savage Publishers Ltd
NEWS AND COMMENT
2001
14 SEP 01The BooksellerGordon Wright in Savage buyout
Scottish independent Gordon Wright Publishing has been bought out by Steve Savage, managing editor of condensed books at Reader's Digest.
Mr Savage will use the 34-title backlist to create a new London-based company, Steve Savage Publishers, when he steps down from his role as managing editor of condensed books at Reader's Digest in October. No price was disclosed for the deal.
"I aim to do the same kind of general non-fiction publishing in England that Gordon has done in Scotland," Mr Savage said.
Originally from Scotland, he was a bookseller in Edinburgh before moving first to Granada Paperbacks and then to RD for nine years. He will be based at the Old Truman Brewery in London's Brick Lane and will spend part of his time in Scotland.
